Moodle is looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our growing legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting Moodle’s global operations — drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on privacy and IP matters, and helping the business navigate a complex multi-jurisdictional legal landscape.
What You’ll Do
- Reviewing and drafting a broad range of commercial contracts, software licence agreements, NDAs, and website terms
- Advising on data privacy obligations with a focus on GDPR, and acting as point of contact for our external DPO on EU time zone
- Supporting M&A activities including due diligence and drafting of share and asset acquisition agreements
- Managing and maintaining IP and trademark registrations (including Madrid-based and USPTO) in coordination with WIPO
- Monitoring contract compliance and maintaining records in the CRM and Google Drive
- Assisting the General Counsel with ad hoc legal research across multiple jurisdictions
- Keeping across developments in cybersecurity law affecting software development and sale
- Being a sounding board for the General Counsel before escalating to external counsel
We’d love to meet you
Especially if you can tell us about your:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Legal Officer or Contracts Officer, with a strong track record in commercial contract management
- Legal qualifications obtained in UK, Europe or US, or equivalent experience gained within the UK, Europe or US legal systems
- Hands-on in-house experience within a technology or SaaS company
- Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management systems
- Proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts across multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic, approachable style
- Ability to work flexibly across European and US time zones when required
