Primary Purpose: The Retail Media Director at Mood Media is a strategic leadership role responsible for spearheading sales growth and cultivating a culture of excellence in the UK market. This role demands a visionary leader with a robust understanding of retail media solutions or retail media network operations, adept at identifying and capitalising on business opportunities within new and existing client bases with retail media organizations. The focus is on driving innovation in retail media operations to drive incremental revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Strategy and Execution: Collaborate with ISM U.S. leadership to leverage a playbook of adoption and success for our new enterprise retail media clients for go to market and maximum gross ad sales managed through the ISM platform. Adapt In-Store Marketplace offerings, market fit and monetization to the applicable geographical region. Apply the strategy and market positioning of In-Store Marketplace as part of the Mood Media offerings. Proactively identify and pursue revenue expansion opportunities, utilising a deep understanding of retail media trends and Mood existing customer base. Ensure accurate forecasting and reporting of sales performance, contributing to strategic decision-making and operational planning.
- Leadership and Team Development: Provide strong leadership to the UK sales team, setting clear expectations, objectives, and performance targets. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement. Coach and mentor sales team members, providing regular feedback, guidance, and professional development opportunities to drive individual and team success. Lead by example in building and maintaining strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, demonstrating subject matter expertise and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Retail Media Business Development: Align with SVP Head of Global Retail Media and Partnerships on regional retail media strategy, aligning with the company's business goals and objectives. Develop and manage the retail media pipeline, ensuring effective execution of business development effort and maximising return on investment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop integrated retail media offerings to retail clients. Drive revenue growth through the implementation of effective retail media initiatives with clients using the ISM Playbook and proper partnerships to activate maximum advertising deal flow. Stay at the forefront of retail media and technology trends, ensuring Mood Media's offerings remain competitive and innovative.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop relationships with the appropriate level of leaders within the retail media network or marketing towards final decision making and commitment to success after launch of the digital in-store program. Using the ISM established processes, collaborate with clients to understand their unique retail media organization needs and objectives. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention through proactive communication, effective problem-solving, and value-added service delivery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including ISM subject matter experts, functional roles, solution designers, creative directors, and service and support teams, to ensure seamless execution of client projects and initiatives. Provide insights and feedback to internal teams based on client needs and market trends, contributing to product development, innovation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Commercial Capability: Develop and implement commercial structures and negotiation strategies, including revenue sharing models between retailers and their product suppliers. Identify and capitalise on opportunities to create mutually beneficial partnerships and revenue-sharing arrangements that drive sales and profitability for ISM Mood Media, and their clients. Negotiate terms and agreements with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with company objectives and maximising value for all parties involved. Leverage strong business acumen and financial analysis skills to assess the viability and potential impact of proposed commercial arrangements, mitigating risks and optimising outcomes. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in commercial negotiations, continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and improve our approach to deal-making.
