About our Risk & Control team: We are looking for a senior leader to join Monzo’s ever-growing, high-performing Risk & Control team! The team provides support, advice and insight to our Accountable Executives in managing their risks. Relationships with them are owned by our Risk Partner teams. This role sits in our central Enablement function, responsible for providing data, systems, and insight to empower our Risk Partners.
You’ll lead the Controls team of professionals who:
- Manage a programme of controls effectiveness testing;
- Provide advice on how to optimise our control suite to ensure that Monzo grows safely and that risks are managed as expected;
- Consistently deliver improved ways of monitoring Monzo’s control performance.
Your day-to-day:
- Lead on our programme to embed improved, risk-based controls monitoring across Monzo.
- Lead on our initiative to consider the optimal operating model for controls testing and monitoring, considering how we can further improve the team’s service for its customers in a way that scales as Monzo grows.
- Lead a team of specialists with good knowledge of Monzo, its ways of working and processes to provide excellent customer service to users of control monitoring outputs from across the 3 lines of defence.
- Lead the team to deliver on its agreed control testing plans, reporting on findings to stakeholders and helping them to scope improvement activities (if applicable).
- Use your commercial awareness to help understand and solve controls-related problems with the greatest business impact.
- Work with our Risk Data and Platform teams to improve the actionable insights from the team’s activities, driving a culture of control consciousness across Monzo.

The Interview Process:
Our interview process involves three main stages:
- Chat with a member of the hiring team.
- Initial call with the hiring manager.
- 2-part final stage interview (Technical & Behavioural) with members from the wider team.
