About the role
As a Senior Product Design Manager at Monzo, you\âll lead and grow a team of talented designers. Youâll roll up your sleeves to support your team through early discovery, workshops, and problemâsolving, while setting the strategic direction and vision for your product area. Youâll help to shape our design team, raise the quality bar and deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers, while you partner closely with your counterparts in Product and Engineering, as well as the general manager of your product area.
Responsibilities
- Building and nurturing a highâperforming design team â investing in their growth, wellbeing, and longâterm success.
- Maintaining an exceptional quality bar across all design work through clear feedback and coaching, helping designers and teams consistently deliver bestâinâclass experiences.
- Setting the strategic direction and design vision for your area, inspiring teams to think bigger and bolder, whilst aligning with Monzo goals and mission.
- Partnering with Product, Engineering, and the General Manager to define priorities, shape roadmaps, and turn strategy into impactful execution.
- Jumping in to solve tricky product and design problems, especially in early discovery or when teams need unblocking.
- Creating an environment where feedback is open, craft is celebrated, and design quality continues to evolve across the organisation.
- Acting as a champion for design at Monzo, influencing how design thinking shapes our products and culture.
Qualifications
- You have experience managing and coaching designers, ideally in a productâled tech environment.
- You\âre a handsâon leader operating across a wide range of crossâfunctional team activities and goals, such as facilitating workshops, shaping a vision or guiding a product direction.
- You set and uphold a high bar for design quality and craft, with a keen eye for detail and usability.
- You\âre comfortable working across ambiguous problem spaces, helping teams move from exploration to execution.
- You\âre an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to influence product, engineering, and leadership partners.
- You know what âgreatâ looks like in product design and can inspire teams to get there.
