Our UK customers can also save, invest and combine their pensions with us. With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award-winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers. We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo.
Our Procurement team is evolving into a proactive, strategic partner to the business - one that shapes commercial decisions, enables scale, and delivers meaningful long-term value. We’re looking for a Senior Procurement Manager to play a pivotal role in how Monzo makes and executes some of its most important Technology and Engineering third-party decisions. This is a senior, high-impact role operating at the heart of a high-performing technology organisation, where procurement is expected to add value through insight, judgement, and partnership - not process.
You’ll join a growing, high-calibre team and work closely with senior stakeholders across Technology and Engineering to shape category strategies, influence major investment decisions, and ensure Monzo’s technology ecosystem is designed to serve our customers well - today and as we grow.
Responsibilities:- Owning and delivering strategic procurement and category strategies across Technology and Engineering spend, aligned to Monzo’s long-term priorities.
- Partnering closely with senior Technology and Engineering leaders to shape decisions early, improving commercial outcomes and decision quality.
- Leading complex sourcing, negotiation, and contracting activity for high-value, multi-year technology agreements.
- Helping stakeholders understand and navigate trade-offs around cost, resilience, speed, scalability, and vendor lock-in.
- Exercising strong commercial judgement - knowing when to optimise for long-term value and when to prioritise speed and flexibility in a fast-moving fintech environment.
- Working collaboratively with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Security, and Finance to ensure commercial decisions appropriately manage risk without introducing unnecessary friction.
- Acting as a role model for modern, strategic procurement and contributing to the ongoing evolution of the procurement function at Monzo.
- Bring deep experience across core Technology and Engineering categories, such as software and SaaS, cloud platforms and infrastructure, data and developer tooling, and specialist technology services.
- Have a strong track record of partnering credibly with Engineering, Product, and Technology leaders, influencing decisions through insight, judgement, and trust rather than process enforcement.
- Are comfortable operating in complex, fast-moving technology environments, where trade-offs between speed, cost, risk, and long-term flexibility are part of everyday decision-making.
- Can assess and articulate commercial, architectural, and ecosystem implications of technology purchasing decisions - not just individual deal outcomes.
- Have hands-on experience negotiating and managing software, SaaS, and technology service agreements, including licensing models, pricing structures, and renewal strategies.
- Are able to balance risk, security, resilience and regulatory considerations with commercial and delivery needs, working in partnership with TPRM, InfoSec, Data and Legal teams.
What’s In It For You: £75,000 - £90,000 ➕ share options. This role can be based in our London or Cardiff office, or distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London). We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, and at times that suit you and your team. £1,000 learning budget each year to use on books, training courses and conferences. We will set you up to work from home; all employees are given Macbooks and for fully remote workers we will provide extra support for your work-from-home setup. Plus lots more! The application journey includes a 30 min call with the Recruiter, a 30 min interview with the Hiring Manager, 2 hours of technical and behavioural interviews, and a 30 min final interview with Engineering stakeholders.
