Our Executive & Board Recruiting team helps find, engage and hire the next generation of leadership and board talent for Monzo globally. We are a small, dedicated team of leadership recruiting experts, based out of London but with a global reach. Monzo continues to grow and we are looking for an Executive Researcher to join the team.
As part of our People Collective team, you’re charged with finding the most interesting candidates who bring an entrepreneurial spirit, a sense of scrappiness and a diversity of thought to all they do. You’re responsible for engaging executive and board candidates to our hiring process and connecting them to the magic of working at Monzo. You are creative and driven, with an interpersonal savvy that allows you to develop lasting relationships with candidates, recruiters and hiring managers. You’re also comfortable with numbers and drawing insights from analytics to make our hiring process smarter and more efficient.
From generating pipelines to enriching the search process with market and talent insights, you are confident in a room with senior stakeholders advising on talent and market trends and taking ownership of candidate pipelines. It’s really important that you are adept at keeping an eye on market trends, bringing in‑depth credible knowledge and research to every process. Organised and thoughtful in your approach, you will work across multiple collectives and so curiosity and an ability to learn quickly is key. You are data‑led, always looking to iterate for process improvement and experienced at designing thorough and creative search strategies.

The Executive & Board Recruitment team at Monzo is an exciting and focused group – supporting all hiring at ExCo and Board level, across all parts of the organisation. Our work is focused solely on the most critical leadership roles. You work closely with our Boards, ExCo, and other leaders across every function.

You’ll play a key role by:
- Leading the design of Monzo’s executive sourcing framework – setting standards for research, mapping, and candidate engagement.
- Partnering with Executive Recruiters on live searches, co‑owning the sourcing and research strategy, and ensuring smooth collaboration.
- Designing and embedding a framework for recruiter‑sourcer partnership (e.g., role kick‑offs, milestone check‑ins, stakeholder touch‑points, feedback loops).
- Building succession pipelines for C‑suite and board roles, prioritising where you spend your time for impact.
- Creating and maintaining in‑depth market maps of leadership talent in market, and adjacent industries.
- Acting as a trusted research adviser to recruiters and senior stakeholders, bringing deep market insights and competitive intelligence.
- Championing diversity and inclusion by ensuring all pipelines and market maps reflect Monzo’s values and DE&I goals.
- Building and maintaining long‑term relationships with senior leadership talent for both immediate and future opportunities.
- Contributing to projects that establish Monzo as a benchmark for executive and board hiring excellence.
- Innovate to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our systems and processes – not just incremental improvements, but also “moon shots” that fundamentally change how we approach executive search at Monzo.
We’d love to hear from you if…
- You have significant experience sourcing and researching at the executive or board level, either in‑house or in a top‑tier executive search firm.
- You’ve led or built sourcing/research frameworks and want to apply that expertise to continue to shape an in‑house function.
- You’ve been involved in succession planning or proactive pipeline building for senior leadership roles.
- You have a track record of partnering effectively with executive recruiters, and ideally have experience shaping recruiter‑researcher ways of working.
- You are a collaborative team player, with a track record of maximizing team as well as individual performance.
- You’re as comfortable designing strategy as you are executing the research behind it.
- You are highly experienced in creating search strategies, mapping markets, gleaning industry insights and being a champion of process and data quality.
- You bring credibility, discretion, and gravitas when partnering with senior stakeholders, bringing a high level of personal accountability, integrity and authenticity in everything you do.
