We are not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo.
Our TechOps team is looking for a technically-driven and systems-minded TechOps Platform Manager to lead our Platform area. TechOps sits within Monzo's Security collective and is responsible for ensuring every Monzonaut has the tools, access, and technology they need to do their best work. The Platform team is the technical backbone of TechOps, building the observability, resilience, and technical foundations that give Monzo confidence in the internal tools and platforms Monzonauts rely on every day. This means understanding how our enterprise tooling estate is performing, ensuring it is built to scale, and having the right standards in place to change safely and consistently.
In this role, you will lead and develop a team of specialists, set the technical direction for how our platforms are monitored, strengthened, and evolved, and build the operational depth that allows Monzo to grow with confidence. This is a role where you will build as much as you manage, growing capabilities in line with what Monzo needs and when it needs it, and shaping the strategy and tooling to get there.
You will play a key role by:
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of platform specialists, actively supporting their career progression and fostering a culture of technical excellence and systematic thinking.
- Setting the direction for our monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities, working with your team to give the business increasing visibility into platform health, performance, and usage.
- Defining the governance standards and guardrails for how configuration changes are made across the SaaS estate, and enabling your team to implement and uphold them.
- Building resilience, scalability, and high availability into core enterprise tools and platforms, developing redundancy and failover mechanisms over time.
- Owning the strategy for IT asset systems and their integrations, ensuring accurate and trusted data on hardware and software assets across the business.
- Owning the technical approach to legal hold and eDiscovery processes, working closely with Legal teams and guiding your team in the day-to-day operation.
- Driving automation to reduce manual toil, improve consistency, and enable confident changes at pace.
- Collaborating with the wider TechOps management team to align on ways of working, share best practice, and collectively strengthen how the department operates.
- Partnering with Security teams to ensure platform governance aligns with security controls and standards.
- Scaling platform standards and capabilities to work across regions and time zones as Monzo grows globally, ensuring your team can support an increasingly distributed organisation.
We would love to hear from you if:
- You have proven experience leading a platform engineering, IT operations, or SaaS management team.
- You are a strong people leader with a track record of coaching, developing, and retaining technical talent.
- You have technical experience with SaaS platform management, configuration, and security.
- You have experience building or managing monitoring, observability, and alerting capabilities.
- You have a strong understanding of operational resilience, automation, and systems integration.
- You have experience working closely with Security, Compliance, or Legal teams on technical controls and processes.
- You are comfortable with automation tooling and platforms (e.g. Torq, Airtable, or similar).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with office infrastructure, including networking, power, and physical environment technology.
- Experience with enterprise platforms such as Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Okta, Meraki, or similar.
- Experience with IT asset management platforms and integrations with MDM or financial systems.
- Hands-on experience with eDiscovery tooling and legal hold processes.
- Experience building platform capabilities across multiple locations or regions.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code, monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana), or data analysis platforms.
- Experience working in a fast-growing technology or financial services company.
This role can be based in our London office, but we are open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London). We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, and at times that suit you and your team. £1,000 learning budget each year to use on books, training courses, and conferences. We will set you up to work from home; all employees are given Macbooks and for fully remote workers, we will provide extra support for your work-from-home setup.
The application journey has 3 key steps: 30 min call with the recruiter, 30 mins call with the hiring manager, and 2 hours of technical and behavioural interviews. This process should take around 3-4 weeks - your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible!
We are an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, or veteran, neurodiversity or disability status.
