Overview
The payroll associate works in partnership with others in the People collective to ensure our Monzonauts are paid accurately and on time. They support the wider payroll team, other People Collective teams and managers in understanding the complexities of EU payroll legislation to create a delightful payroll experience at every point in the Monzonaut lifecycle.
Team and Scope
You will be part of a 4-person team and will coordinate our current payrolls in Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Germany and Portugal, as well as new payrolls we set up in other EU countries. You will play a key role by:
- Working with our broader Tax, Legal and People teams to launch new payrolls around the EU, ensuring we bring to life the value of growing safely and in control.
- Compiling and reconciling our monthly EU payrolls in line with our payroll calendar and processes.
- Answering general payroll queries for our EU-based Monzonauts in a delightful and accessible way.
- Monitoring our payroll processes to minimise errors and provide technical expertise on how to consistently improve our payroll process.
- Acting as the first point of contact between Monzo and our EU payroll providers to ensure we receive a gold-standard level of service.
- Working closely with our POps and wider People Collective teams to provide the best possible Monzonaut experience through accurate and timely data submissions.

Candidate profile
- You have end-to-end payroll experience (data input to reconciliation and reporting) in Spain or Italy as a minimum.
- You have knowledge of legislation and best practice through professional qualifications or lived experience.
- You can work to a high level of accuracy, autonomy and have strong attention to detail.
- You are highly organised with the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise effectively.
- You have experience in setting up new payrolls and benefits.
