ABOUT THE ROLE
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape our insurance propositions and drive forward strategic commercial projects across the vertical. You’ll be responsible for managing key insurer relationships, delivering commercial outcomes, and supporting the development of new initiatives that align with our growth ambitions. As Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure our Insurance offering is competitive, compliant, and commercially successful. You’ll also play a key role in strategic projects that require commercial insight, partner engagement, and delivery focus. This is a high‑impact role for someone with strong commercial acumen, deep insurance knowledge, and the ability to lead complex initiatives with confidence and clarity.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Trading & Performance: Monitor Life Insurance performance across pricing, conversion, and volumes, identifying opportunities for improvement. Use dashboards and insights to track KPIs and support tactical decision‑making.
- Partner Management: Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with our third‑party supplier and Life Insurance partners, acting as a key point of contact and escalation. Develop Joint Business Plans to align on shared goals and growth opportunities. Manage HubSpot records for partner engagement, ensuring CRM data is accurate and actionable. Represent the voice of Life Insurance partners in internal planning and strategy.
- Commercial Delivery: Lead commercial negotiations and re‑negotiations with Life Insurance providers. Deliver tenancy, data, and trading deals that meet commercial objectives and support long‑term partner trust. Support the development and monetisation of Life Insurance data products and insights. Use HubSpot to track deal progress, manage pipelines, and inform strategic decisions.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, data, tech, and marketing teams to deliver joint objectives. Ensure Life Insurance insights and partner feedback shape internal strategies and initiatives.
- Strategic Projects: Lead or support strategic commercial initiatives across the Insurance vertical. Provide commercial input into new propositions, pricing models, and market expansion plans. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align project delivery with business goals.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Essential Experience & Knowledge: Strong understanding of insurance, pricing dynamics, and digital distribution (aggregators, MGAs, insurers). Familiarity with insurer KPIs (e.g. loss ratio, conversion, CLTV) and FCA regulatory requirements. Customer‑first mindset, ensuring good outcomes through ethical, compliant trading.
- Commercial & Strategic Acumen: Proven negotiation and selling skills, particularly in tenancy, data monetisation, and commercial trading deal‑making. Ability to link trading levers to revenue and profit, with a strong track record in commercial deal‑making. Experience using CRM platforms such as HubSpot to manage deal pipelines, track commercial performance, and support strategic decision‑making.
- Analytical & Data‑Led Thinking: Proficient in using dashboards and insights to spot opportunities and drive performance. Skilled at turning data into compelling, action‑oriented commercial narratives.
- Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Confident managing senior insurer relationships and acting as an internal‑external escalation point. Strong influencing and communication skills, with experience leading cross‑functional engagement. Works closely with data, product, tech, and marketing to deliver joint objectives. Comfortable using HubSpot to maintain accurate partner records, monitor engagement, and support relationship planning.
- Execution Focus: Translates strategy into action, driving trading performance and continuous improvement at pace. Skilled at influencing across functions and leading delivery in complex, fast‑moving environments. A self‑starter with resilience, curiosity, and a solution mindset — able to manage competing priorities and maintain focus under pressure.
