About Monument
We’re building something genuinely rare: a financial brand designed for the mass affluent: the professionals, entrepreneurs and ambitious savers that traditional banks have systematically underserved for decades. We exist to make managing wealth simpler, smarter and more human, treating every client’s wealth with the same care as if it were our own. We have over £7 billion in client deposits, a fresh funding round and a place on the Future Fifty, the UK’s top pre-IPO companies.
The Opportunity
Savings is Monument’s most established product. We have product-market fit. The challenge now is scale. We’re targeting £10 billion in deposits this year and £30 billion by the end of 2030. This is a 1-to-100 role, not a 0-to-1 role. We’re not searching for product-market fit. We’re engineering the systems, experiences and design decisions that turn a proven product into a category-defining one. For the right designer, this is one of the most compelling roles in UK fintech: genuine scale, a discerning client base, real commercial stakes and the mandate to do it properly.
What You’ll Do
- Own design for the Savings frontier. Work closely with the Product Lead to set direction. You are the design authority, from research and concept through to shipped, scaled product.
- Design for scale, not novelty. At this stage, the work is less about invention and more about rigour: removing friction, increasing activation, improving retention and turning one-time depositors into long-term clients.
- Translate complexity into clarity. Savings products for the mass affluent sit at the intersection of trust, emotional significance and financial sophistication. Your craft is making that feel effortless.
- Build and run a fast experimentation cadence. Hypothesis-led, data-validated. You design the test as carefully as the final product.
- Work with evidence, not opinion. Let client data, usability research and commercial outcomes shape decisions. Adapt fast when the evidence changes.
- Partner across functions. Collaborate with Engineering, Compliance, Data and Marketing to ship work that holds together end to end.
- Use AI to move faster. Leverage AI-enabled design tools to accelerate iteration, reduce non-core work and amplify your output.
- Raise the bar across the design team. Share learnings, contribute to shared systems and help Monument’s design practice grow with the business.
The Challenges You’ll Tackle
- Scaling without breaking trust. The mass affluent chose Monument for a reason. Every change to the product must reinforce, not erode, the confidence that brought them here.
- Turning activation into lifetime value. Getting clients to open an account is the start. Designing the journey that keeps them engaged, deepens their relationship and grows their deposits over time is the actual challenge.
- Moving at pace inside a regulated environment. Compliance and experimentation must move together. You know how to navigate that without using it as an excuse to slow down.
- Finding the next product frontier. Savings accounts are well understood. The opportunity is to look beyond the obvious and design genuinely new product forms that give the mass affluent better ways to grow and manage their money.
The Mindset
- Scale-first thinking. You have moved a product from working to dominant. You know what changes at 10x and 100x, and you design for it.
- Radical ownership. Accountable for design outcomes, not design activity. You measure yourself by what ships and what it does in the market.
- Craft without compromise. Fast and polished are not in conflict for you. Quality is the default, not the exception.
- Bias to action. You show progress through product, not Figma files.
- Intellectual humility. Half your assumptions will be wrong. You love finding out which half.
What You Bring
- Proven experience scaling a digital product from established PMF to significant scale. This is a 1-to-100 role and we will look for evidence of that.
- Full-stack design skills: research, interaction design, visual craft and the ability to ship.
- Experience in fintech, financial services or wealth management; deep familiarity with the emotional and trust dynamics of financial products.
- Strong grasp of behavioural psychology and how people make financial decisions.
- A structured approach to experimentation: hypothesis, test design, measurement and iteration.
- Ability to work fluently with data: conversion rates, activation metrics, retention curves and commercial outcomes.
- Confidence using AI-enabled design tools to accelerate your output.
- Track record of effective cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, Compliance and Data.
- Experience designing within regulated environments is advantageous; the right mindset matters more.
What’s In It For You
Work on a product that already works, with the mandate to make it extraordinary. No foundational debates, no pivots. The problem is defined, the audience is real and the commercial stakes are genuine. Operate with visibility at a pre-IPO company at a critical stage of growth. Be measured by outcomes, not output. Work alongside people who set a high bar and expect you to match it.
Our Values
At Monument, our values shape how we make decisions, how we treat each other when things get hard, and how we show up for clients who expect more than standard banking. We set ambitious goals and hold ourselves to them, not because it looks good, but because our clients’ outcomes depend on it. When something isn’t working, we say so early, learn from it, and move. We don’t wait for perfect conditions, and we don’t protect egos over progress. We work as a genuine team, which means real collaboration, honest conversations when we disagree, and shared accountability when things go wrong. We know better decisions come from different perspectives, so we actively value the range of experiences and backgrounds our people bring. We’re always asking whether there’s a smarter way to do what we do, not for the sake of change, but because standing still isn’t an option in the market we’re in.
