Monty’s Bakehouse is looking for someone who wants to move beyond service and into the world of product development, creating the next generation of snacks and meal solutions for global markets. Monty’s Bakehouse has been a leader in handheld hot snacks since 2003. Our reputation for innovation in the aviation sector led to our acquisition by SATS, Asia’s leading airline caterer, giving us a global platform and partnerships with major food brands. This role is ideal for someone who has already gained experience in a professional kitchen environment and is now ready to apply those skills in a creative, development‑focused setting.
About the Role
As a Development Chef, you’ll work closely with our Executive Chef to create, refine and present new food concepts. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across the full product development process - from idea generation to launch - while helping maintain a high‑performing development kitchen. This is not an entry‑level role. We are specifically looking for chefs with at least a couple of years professional kitchen experience who want to transition into food development.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Executive Chef with product briefs, timelines and costing requirements
- Producing high‑quality samples for internal reviews and customer presentations
- Assisting in the development and refinement of new product concepts
- Preparing, setting up and clearing down for presentations and trials
- Maintaining kitchen hygiene, stock control, equipment care and safe working practices
- Building strong working relationships with colleagues and clients
- Learning and following the full Product Development Process, including documentation.
Experience working as a chef in a professional kitchen for at least two years. A genuine passion for food and global food trends. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Confident communicator and team player.
Unfortunately if you do not have professional kitchen experience, this role will not be suitable.
If you’re an early‑career chef ready to grow, learn and bring creative ideas to life, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now if you're looking to step into a development‑focused role within a business that values innovation and quality.
