At Montu, we are transforming access to cannabis-based medicines through safe, evidence-led digital healthcare. We’re looking for an experienced health professional who thrives in complex clinical environments, is passionate about safeguarding and governance, and wants to play a pivotal role in improving outcomes for patients with nuanced and long-term mental health needs.
In this position, you will be a vital bridge between our clinical, governance, safeguarding, and patient-care teams, and will act as our organisational Safeguarding Lead. You will be responsible for the caseload of complex patients, ranging from mental health and those living with long term conditions. You'll be involved in follow-up of these patients while also serving as the internal subject matter expert for clinicians and the wider team. Your expertise will guide the wider team and ensure our clinical governance frameworks meet the highest standards of safety.
What you will be doing:
- Complex Caseload & Longitudinal Management: Specialist Follow-up Care: Regular review of the management of a dedicated caseload of patients who are already under a mental health team or where this is required. Specifically patients with escalating or intricate needs, ensuring their long-term treatment plans remain safe and effective.
- External Clinical Liaison: Act as the key point of contact for external GPs or NHS Mental Health Services where required; facilitating a joined-up approach to patient care and ensuring robust information sharing to maintain patient safety.
- Complex Clinical Reviews: Conduct deep-dive reviews for cases referred to you whose presentation or medical history requires a higher level of clinical scrutiny than routine follow-up.
- Stabilisation & Escalation: Act as the primary point of intervention for clinical escalation, providing expert advice to patients and staff when a case moves beyond routine care or requires specialist adjustment for complex mental health patients.
Clinical Governance, Safeguarding & Leadership:
- Clinical Leader: Act as a primary source of expert advice for all clinicians across the organisation, offering guidance on complex mental health queries and best practices as well as training the wider clinical team in this field.
- Governance Integration: Work as a key link between the frontline clinical team and the Governance Team, reviewing clinical incidents and refining screening protocols to align with clinical, professional and regulatory standards.
- Safeguarding Lead: Drive organisational safeguarding excellence through oversight of clinical governance frameworks, policy development, delivery of mandatory safeguarding training, leading complex safeguarding investigations, conducting regular audits, and providing specialist safeguarding supervision to the clinical team.
- MDT Subject Matter Expert: Provide authoritative guidance to the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) regarding complex mental health cases and the safe application of CBPMs.
- Protocol Development: Use specialist insights to help refine mental health screening protocols and risk management frameworks.
What do you need?
- NMC/HCPC/GMC/GPhC valid and active registration.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience, with a focus on mental health care, complex risk assessment, and longitudinal case management.
- Safeguarding & Governance Expertise: Proven experience in clinical auditing, risk management, or safeguarding lead responsibilities within a healthcare setting.
- Specialist Knowledge: A robust understanding of mental health medications, dual diagnosis, and the long term management of complex mental health patients.
- Remote Proficiency: Confidence in using digital platforms for video consultations and maintaining accurate electronic patient records.
- Communication: Exceptional organisational skills and a compassionate, patient-centred approach to managing complex clinical narratives.
The role is hybrid so ability to travel to London at least 1 day per week or more on a needs basis is essential for the successful candidate.
What we offer:
- 25 days holiday (rising to 27 after one year and 30 after two years) + bank holidays
- Private Health Insurance
- Opportunities for development and growth
- A dynamic and supportive work environment
