About the role
At Montu, the New Patient Paramedic sits at the very beginning of a patient's journey with us, and that first interaction matters more than most. The people who come to us have often spent years navigating a healthcare system that has not been able to give them answers. By the time they reach us, they are ready to try something different. Your role is to make that first step feel safe, considered, and human.
As a New Patient Paramedic you will conduct virtual assessments with patients across our core conditions, which span psychiatry, neurology, pain, and women's health. You will review medical histories, identify clinical needs, and determine whether cannabis-based treatment is appropriate, all within a multidisciplinary team that includes consultants, pharmacists, and specialist clinicians. This is not a passive gatekeeping role. You will be an active clinical voice, asking the right questions, spotting the things that need a closer look, and knowing when to refer on.
What makes this role different is the depth of the patient relationship you are able to build, even within a remote model. Because our patients return to us regularly throughout their treatment, you will see the impact of the decisions you make. When a patient tells you at their three week review that they are sleeping for the first time in years, or that their pain has reduced enough to let them get back to their life, you will know that your assessment was part of that outcome. That is what drives this team.
You will be joining a company that is growing fast and changing quickly. Things evolve here, processes improve, and no two weeks look exactly the same. If you are someone who thrives with variety, who wants to be part of building something rather than just maintaining it, and who believes that patients deserve better access to treatments that actually work, this is a role worth looking at.
What you will be doing:
- Conduct comprehensive virtual assessments for new patients, reviewing medical histories, current symptoms, and identifying healthcare needs.
- Work collaboratively with consultants and other clinicians as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support safe and effective patient care in line with clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
- Provide clear, empathetic education about cannabis-based treatments, including potential benefits, side effects, contraindications, and usage guidance.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous, and confidential records of all patient interactions using Montu’s electronic health record system.
- Adhere to all Montu UK policies, healthcare regulations, professional standards, and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Act as the first point of contact for new patients, responding to questions and concerns with professionalism, compassion, and clinical insight.
- Maintain all mandatory training requirements and remain familiar with company policies, SOPs, and current clinical guidance.
What you need:
- Strong clinical assessment, triage, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly within virtual and remote consultation environments.
- Empathetic, patient-centred approach with the ability to build rapport and trust remotely.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and telehealth platforms.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload effectively, and manage time efficiently in a remote setting.
- Telemedicine or remote consultation experience is desirable.
- Registered Paramedic qualification is essential.
- Valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-registration clinical experience as a paramedic.
What we offer:
- Generous Leave: 25 days holiday (rising to 27 after year one and 30 after year three) + 8 bank holidays.
- Pension Matching: Up to 5% employer matching contributions.
- Private Healthcare Scheme.
- Flexibility and Wellness: Work-from-home options, cycle-to-work scheme, and more.
- Growth Opportunities: Collaborate across teams and represent Montu at events, with support to grow your skills and impact.
- Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Leave.
