Locum Pharmacy Technician

Role description

Working as a Locum Pharmacy Technician supporting the supply of CMBP in a specialist private pharmacy. This is a niche role in a growing area. The successful candidate will work alongside specialist clinical pharmacists to make CMBP more accessible for all patients.

Location

Onsite in Winnersh (easily accessible from Reading and surrounding areas). Free parking onsite.

Rate

£19 per hour

Hours

40 hours a week, Monday – Friday

Responsibilities will include but not be restricted to:

• Receiving and validating prescriptions ready for a clinical check.
• Ordering CMBP in accordance with regulations in a timely manner.
• Processing patient information appropriately.
• Supporting the Responsible Pharmacist in daily pharmacy operations.
• Being the first point of contact for pharmacy queries.
• Maintaining relevant records for the supply of CMBP.
• Ensuring relationships with importers are maintained for timely delivery of CMBP to patients.
• Maintaining stock and security of CMBP onsite.
• Communicating prescriptions to the Department of Health to meet regulatory requirements.
• Supporting pharmacy governance to ensure safe operations.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

• A UK-qualified, registered Pharmacy Technician with a valid GPhC number.
• ACT qualification is desirable but not essential.
• BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
• Ideally, undertaken a CPD-accredited medical cannabis educational programme. Training will be provided for the successful candidate.
• A self-motivated individual with high attention to detail, able to work accurately and identify errors quickly.
• Experience in pharmacy dispensary work, either in primary or secondary care environments.
• Attention to detail, patience, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Excellent communication skills with staff, patients, and healthcare professionals.
• Professional, ethical, and committed to excellent customer care.
• Excellent computer literacy, with good knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
