We’re working with a leading international law firm that is expanding its London compliance function and is now looking to hire a Compliance Analyst to join a well-established, high-performing team. The compliance team supports all London-based matters and plays a central role in the firm’s risk and regulatory work, with steady streams of work also coming from New York, particularly around new partner onboarding and cross-border matters.
The team is led by a Compliance Director and includes senior compliance professionals and lawyers who have moved into compliance from top-tier private practice backgrounds. The roles report into a Compliance Manager who started his own career as an analyst and has progressed within the firm, which gives a genuine sense of structure, mentorship and long-term development.
This position has come about due to growth and internal progression. The team is keen to bring in an analyst who already has a solid grounding in law firm compliance and can operate with a degree of independence. The work is heavily focused on anti-money laundering at the outset, and the successful candidates will be closely involved in client and matter onboarding, conducting CDD and UBO analysis, sanctions checks, risk assessments and ongoing monitoring.
There is a strong emphasis on producing clear, well-reasoned written analysis for fee earners and the MLRO, as well as working closely with partners, finance teams and other compliance stakeholders to ensure matters progress smoothly and in line with regulatory requirements. While the initial focus is firmly on AML, there is scope over time to become involved in conflicts and broader compliance work as the team continues to grow and evolve.
The environment is busy but supportive, with increasing volumes of work and real exposure to complex, high-quality matters. The firm is ideally looking for candidates with experience in a law firm compliance, AML or risk team, ideally within an international firm environment. This would suit someone who is confident handling AML work, enjoys working at pace, and is now looking for a role where they can step into a visible, trusted position within a sophisticated compliance function. Strong attention to detail, good written communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.
