Job Description

In-House Property Lawyer (Building Safety & Compliance Focus)

A market-leading residential property group is seeking an In-House Property Lawyer to join its established legal team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of property law, building safety, and compliance, tackling some of the most topical and high-profile issues in the UK property sector today.

The organisation manages a significant residential portfolio across England and Wales and plays a central role in ensuring safety, transparency, and good governance in property management. The legal team sits at the heart of that mission, advising on everything from landlord & tenant and building safety matters to portfolio transactions and dispute resolution.

The business is open-minded on background and will consider candidates from one of two main routes:

• Property & Compliance Lawyer

Ideal for a junior solicitor with strong real estate or landlord & tenant experience, looking to broaden their in-house exposure. You’ll advise on a range of property, leasehold, and compliance matters, work with external solicitors on disputes, and support internal teams on processes, templates, and operational governance.

• Construction & Building Safety Lawyer

Suitable for a solicitor with some experience in construction or building safety law, either contentious or non-contentious. You’ll work on high-value building remediation projects, advise on the Building Safety Act 2022, Defective Premises Act, and related frameworks, and liaise with external counsel on claims, contracts, and project documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on property, leasehold, and regulatory matters across a varied caseload.

• Manage or support building safety and remediation projects in line with current legislation.

• Instruct and oversee external solicitors and consultants where appropriate.

• Draft, review, and advise on deeds, licences, construction contracts, and warranties.

• Provide internal training and support to operational teams on compliance and property law.

• Stay up to date with legal and regulatory changes affecting the housing and building safety landscape.

About You

• Qualified solicitor (England & Wales), ideally 2-3 years’ PQE.

• Background in property, construction, or landlord & tenant law.

• Strong drafting and communication skills, with a commercial, solutions-focused mindset.

• Collaborative, pragmatic, and confident in managing varied and complex workstreams.

• Experience with building safety or remediation legislation would be a distinct advantage.

You’ll join a forward-thinking, mission-driven organisation operating at the forefront of residential property and building safety. The work is varied, intellectually engaging, and socially relevant, offering exposure to major regulatory reform and the chance to make a tangible impact on the way residential property is managed across the UK.
