Are you a dynamic and experienced line manager / production manager ready to lead our assembly shop manufacturing operations? You will be responsible for overseeing daily production activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency, and driving continuous improvement across the department. This role involves managing staff, materials, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence within your remit.
The Assembly Shop Line Manager is responsible for the overall operation, performance, and management of the Assembly Shop. This role ensures that manufacturing processes are executed safely, meet all quality standards, and achieve production targets (On-Time Delivery) while managing personnel, materials, and equipment effectively. You will have a real shop floor presence leading the assembly team in the day-to-day delivery of the production plan whilst supporting continuous improvement activities within your sphere of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities- Safety & Environment: Champion a safety-first culture. Ensure all personnel strictly adhere to safety protocols, use required PPE, and maintain a clean, organized work area (e.g., via 5S).
- Production Management: Lead and coordinate daily production activities to meet output volume, schedule adherence, and efficiency targets. Oversee shift handovers and address immediate production bottlenecks.
- Quality Control: Ensure products are manufactured according to specifications and quality standards. Work closely with the Quality Department to quickly resolve non-conformance issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, train, mentor, and motivate a team of supervisors and production operators. Conduct performance reviews, manage attendance, and handle disciplinary issues as necessary.
- Continuous Improvement (CI): Drive continuous improvement activities using methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma. Analyse production data and metrics (e.g., OEE, scrap rate) to identify and implement process enhancements. Have genuine working knowledge and be fully bought in to 5s and its benefits.
- Equipment & Maintenance: Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with the Maintenance Department to schedule preventive maintenance and address breakdowns, minimizing downtime.
- Material Flow: Ensure the correct quantity of raw materials and components is available at the line to maintain uninterrupted flow. Manage inventory and minimize waste.
- Reporting: Track, analyse, and report on key operational metrics daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Education & Experience: Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) would be beneficial.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production flow. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001). Deployment experience of Lean Manufacturing principles. Effective verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting across all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.

- Mon – Thu 7:15am – 16:30pm Friday 7:15am – 12:15pm (or 7:30 start and 16:45 finish).
