Montracon is one of the leading trailer manufacturers serving the UK, Ireland and export markets and offers a high quality, diverse product portfolio. We are now looking for Welders on a permanent basis to work at our Factory in Doncaster.
Responsibilities
- Work in accordance with Company operating procedures and guidelines.
- Read and assess production information for required specification details, working in an organised manner to ensure the task is completed efficiently, to the correct standard and within the necessary time frame.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Ensure the safe operation of machinery within the area of responsibility.
- Assist in other areas of production within capabilities and commensurate with a level in the Company as and when required.
- Identify unsafe working conditions.
- Continually identify and suggest improvements to process, quality, waste management, visual management etc.
- Report any defects to welding and cutting equipment to Team Leader.
- Identify unsafe conditions regarding welding, cutting and any associated equipment.
- Use a variety of handheld tools and crane operation to build trailers in accordance with SOPs.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies
- Experience in using oxygen/acetylene, MIG and various hand & power tools to perform welding/cutting/drilling functions in the fabrication and/or repair of all types of metals.
- Welding vocational training or equivalent is desirable.
- Knowledge of the practices and procedures associated with the welding trade.
- General knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the fabrication and repair of metal.
- General knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of welding/fabricating work.
- Skill in the use and care of hand and power tools and equipment necessary to perform welding/fabrication and repair tasks.
- Ability to utilise various welding machinery and methods to fabricate and repair metal.
- Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.
- Good manual dexterity requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as hand tools.
- Experience in the manufacture of trailers and trailer bodies is desirable.
