A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a bank with a growing lending franchise as they seek a Senior Product Owner to take strategic ownership of its non-regulated lending propositions. This is a high-profile role within the Product & Proposition function, reporting directly to the Head of Product & Proposition.

You will own the development, governance and continuous improvement of the bank’s commercial and bespoke lending products and the client journeys that sit around them. This is a role for someone who can balance commercial performance with strong client outcomes and robust risk management, translating strategic goals into clear product roadmaps and scalable lending capability.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Product Owner - Lending include:

  • Product Ownership: lead the development, enhancement and optimisation of lending propositions, operational processes and digital capabilities, ensuring products remain competitive, commercially viable and aligned to client and intermediary needs.
  • Product Governance: oversee product approvals, product reviews, pricing changes, policy alignment and product withdrawal considerations within the bank’s governance frameworks.
  • Change Delivery: drive strategic, regulatory and technology change initiatives through both RUN and Change projects.
  • Performance Monitoring: monitor product performance through MI, client insight, pipeline performance, utilisation trends, complaints data, operational metrics and commercial measures.
  • Credit Risk Partnership: work closely with Credit Risk to ensure alignment between product design, underwriting appetite, portfolio performance and operational execution.
  • Client Journeys: support optimisation of onboarding, credit assessment, fulfilment, servicing and client management journeys to improve efficiency and client experience.
  • Controls & Resilience: ensure supporting processes, controls and systems remain robust, scalable, resilient and aligned to regulatory risk expectations.
  • Third Party Management: manage relationships with third party providers, intermediaries, technology partners, legal suppliers and operational vendors supporting lending activities.
  • Digital Agenda: support workflow optimisation, automation, data-led decision making and enhanced client servicing capability.
  • Training & Competence: maintain T&C arrangements relevant to lending activities and partner with Compliance, Risk and operational leadership on T&C frameworks, quality assurance and coaching outcomes.
  • Conduct & Outcomes: monitor conduct indicators, client outcomes, QA findings, complaint trends and operational risk events, identifying training needs and driving improvements in colleague capability.

Requirements for the successful Senior Product Owner - Lending:

  • Demonstrable experience operating within lending environments is essential - commercial and/or bespoke lending exposure is particularly relevant.
  • Strong commercial awareness alongside a solid regulatory understanding, including Consumer Duty, financial crime and wider risk frameworks.
  • Proven ability to balance client outcomes, risk management and operational effectiveness.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience of product governance, product lifecycle management or proposition development within a banking or financial services setting.
  • A track record of aligning delivery with strategic growth objectives.

Rewards for you:

  • A senior, high-visibility role with genuine ownership of a growing lending proposition.
  • Bonus: discretionary annual bonus opportunity.
  • Benefits: competitive package including private medical cover and flexible working options.
  • Culture: a collaborative, inclusive environment where expertise and commercial judgement are genuinely valued.
  • Development: real scope to shape the product agenda and progress your career within a respected bank.
