Due to exciting business growth, our client, a leading international bank based in the heart of central London, is seeking a part / fully qualified Finance Officer to join their Finance team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and quick-learning professional to gain broad experience across the entire spectrum of financial operations within a major banking environment. You will be instrumental in maintaining the daily accuracy of the bank’s finances, preparing crucial regulatory submissions, and assisting with key projects and system improvements.

Candidates MUST have banking experience.

Duties of the Finance Officer to include:

Core Processing & Reporting (BAU)

  • Transaction Processing: Accurately process supplier invoices and staff expense claims.
  • Accounting Functions: Prepare and process various journals necessary for month-end close.
  • Daily Reconciliation: Assist with daily reporting requirements, including performing Nostro reconciliations and supporting liquidity reporting.
  • Regulatory Support: Prepare and assist with various monthly and quarterly reports required by UK regulators and Head Office.
  • Tax Assistance: Provide support for key tax reporting functions, including Corporation Tax, VAT, and BBSI submissions.

Project & Compliance

  • Project Involvement: Support key system and change initiatives, including participation in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for finance systems.
  • Compliance: Adhere strictly to all applicable regulations, risk control guidelines, and internal standards, ensuring all duties are carried out with high integrity.
  • Stakeholder Support: Comfortably support a wide range of internal stakeholders across the bank, leveraging excellent communication skills.

Requirements for the successful Finance Officer include:

  • Candidates MUST have several years of practical experience working within a banking organisation.
  • Candidates will part-qualified or working towards the qualification (at a minimum)
  • Proven basic accounting knowledge and strong numerical ability.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a diligent, organised approach to work with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel skills are essential.
  • Must be a quick learner and able to pick up new tasks and concepts rapidly to effectively support the wider Finance team.
