Due to exciting growth and expansion, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced lending Underwriter to join a specialist Property Lending bank in London. Specializing in bridging finance, you will be responsible for responding to requests from brokers and applicants for regulated and unregulated transactions. This role will manage the underwriting and due diligence process from loan application to loan drawdown.
Duties of the Bridging Underwriter to include:
- Make lending decisions in accordance with Credit Risk Policy and individual mandate thresholds.
- Manage a pipeline of 35-45 Bridging applications, or a volume aligned with team standards, from application to credit approval and drawdown to meet departmental targets.
- Adhere strictly to internal underwriting policy and regulatory requirements, including FCA, PRA, Money Laundering, Prevention of Financial Crime, and Data Protection.
- Collaborate with Sales to progress cases from decision in principle to drawdown.
- Prepare detailed credit papers outlining all relevant conditions and present proposals to the Bridging Credit Committee.
- Review and finalize offer letters.
- Proactively ensure satisfaction of pre-commencement loan conditions and expedite cases to drawdown.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive data entry into the Bank's electronic systems pre and post drawdown.
- Complete post-completion activities in accordance with Bank policies and processes.
Requirements for the successful Bridging Underwriter:
- 2+ years experience working within Bridging Underwriting.
- Demonstrable ability to analyse, negotiate and structure potential bridging loans in accordance with credit policy, and presenting to Credit Committee when required.
- Has previously held a lending mandate.
- Previous experience working within both the regulated and unregulated market highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building relationships with stakeholders, intermediaries and professionals.
