Due to exciting business growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a leading Investment Management firm in Newcastle, as they seek an Assistant Investment Manager to join their team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to support the comprehensive care of client portfolios, deliver outstanding service, and uphold the highest professional standards, all while deepening your expertise in the investment business. Please note, candidates must have completed CISI Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) Level 4 – Securities

Duties of the Assistant Investment Manager to include:

  • Provide crucial support in the day-to-day management of client portfolios, including placing deals within permissible thresholds and executing investment instructions.
  • Clearly articulate investment decisions to clients and assist with the preparation of essential reports and suitability reviews.
  • Support the Investment Management team in ensuring client suitability, which involves understanding their investment aims, financial circumstances, risk appetite, and product knowledge through ongoing engagement.
  • Proactively engage with clients and intermediaries to foster strong relationships, anticipate potential issues, and take initiative to resolve them, enhancing our brand's reputation.
  • Contribute to the team's investment and technical knowledge base through dedicated research and by building relationships with third-party experts (e.g., brokers, other organisations).
  • Enhance the Investment team's technological capabilities by upskilling colleagues on our systems and potentially acting as a Super User.
  • Assist in developing high-quality client proposals, including conducting company research, compiling literature, and coordinating research meetings.
  • Support the coordination and management of annual portfolio reviews and investment administration data.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks, including maintaining competence and adhering to Conduct Rules, to mitigate risk effectively.

Requirements of the Assistant Investment Manager:

  • Candidates must have completed the CISI Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) Level 4 – Securities.
  • Candidates must have previous Investment / Wealth management experience
  • Effective communication skills, comfortable engaging with clients and intermediaries across various platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong numerical aptitude.
  • A strong foundation of knowledge and a genuine passion for the investment industry and its products, particularly in ethical, sustainable, and impact investments.
  • A commitment to staying current with industry developments, including new products, legislation, and regulations.
  • An understanding of portfolio theory and client requirements to inform recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of various asset classes and the end-to-end investment process.
