Summary Description:
Under the direction of the school principal and special education supervisor, the special education teacher provides direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and collaborates with general education teachers. Monitors and evaluates outcomes for students with disabilities and assists in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
Special Requirements: Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day is mandated by the Montgomery County Education Association agreement. Teachers in special education schools or service models must complete specific MCPS courses, including behavioral management and nonviolent crisis interventions, to support behavioral interventions.
