Summary Description: Under the direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. Creates an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet all students\’ needs. Maintains records and follows procedures. Monitors the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements: Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by MCEA contract.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, curriculum integration techniques, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to infuse technology into curriculum. Effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and community. Excellent communication and human relations skills.

Education, Training, and Experience: Bachelor\’s degree in education from an accredited college or university; or a secondary school diploma with at least five years of industry experience in the discipline within the last 10 years, or a bachelor\’s degree in education with demonstrated industry experience. Industry licensures and/or certifications: Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
