Summary Description:
Under the direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. Creates an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet all students\’ needs. Maintains records and follows procedures. Ensures proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical Demands: As required by job duties. Special Requirements: Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside instructional hours as mandated by MCEA contract.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, curriculum integration techniques, policies, and effective instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education. Ability to incorporate technology into the curriculum. Effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and the community. Excellent communication and human relations skills.

Education Training Experience:
Bachelor\’s degree in an applicable education field from an accredited institution; or a secondary school diploma with at least five years of recent full-time industry experience in the discipline to be taught; or a bachelor\’s degree in education with demonstrated industry experience. Industry licensures and certifications: Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the relevant field.
