As a member of the healthcare team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists the Physician and/or Physician Extender in the technical nursing care given to patients. The LPN carries out functions that support patient care under the supervision of the Director/Assistant Director and the Physician and/or physician extender.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment and re‑assessment of patients.
- Provide direct care to patients of all ages.
- Carry out tasks supportive to the patient care unit.
- Assist with clinical patient documentation, including collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provide patient education in practical applications.
- Participate in development of the plan of care in consultation with the licensed healthcare team, anticipating resource needs and prioritising tasks.
- Perform nursing interventions such as wound care, point of care testing, and vitals monitoring under direction of others.
Technical Capabilities (Novice)
- Clinical Patient Documentation: Demonstrate patient documentation in moderate difficulty applications.
- LPN Patient Education: Demonstrate patient education in practical applications.
- LPN Care Planning: Participate in care planning and manage multiple assignments.
- Clinical Competency: Perform nursing interventions such as wound care, point of care testing, vitals, etc.
Position Qualifications
- Certification: Licensed Practical Nurse (LIC) – Tennessee.
- Work Experience: Relevant work experience; less than 1 year.
- Education: Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
