The Children’s Montessori & Preparatory School (CMS) is a small, well-established private school located in the heart of downtown Peterborough, Ontario. CMS offers Preschool to Grade 8 in an inclusive, collaborative and diverse learning environment. We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Teacher for our Casa 2 classroom (kindergarten-aged/4 to 6 yrs). Our school environment is a wonderful place to work alongside a professional, fun, experienced and energetic team!
Job Roles:
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
- Help maintain a safe, clean and developmentally prepared classroom environment.
- Be reliable, supportive and enthusiastic to work as a team.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Assist the head teacher with classroom maintenance, behaviour management, recess supervision, planning, and facilitating lessons and Montessori activities.
- Attend all mandatory training required by the school; and participate in all school events including open houses and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teachers and principal.
Required Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education diploma (preferred)
- Montessori training and experience (preferred)
- Minimum of one year experience in a child care setting
- Current criminal reference check, vulnerable sector screening will be requested.
