Overview

The Waiter/ess works closely with the F&B team on providing the luxury experience to our guests throughout their dining from the moment they enter our property, throughout their experience at our facilities, to a post‑stay experience should they need to call back regarding anything. The Waiter/ess exhibits meticulous eye for detail, a passion for luxury and the ability to enhance customer experience. The role is critical to creating lasting positive image, maintaining reputation and delivery of unparalleled guest experiences via seamless encounters and meaningful, personalised service delivery during the stay. The Waiter/ess is an ambassador of Montcalm Collection and represents the brand and Company Values of belonging, sensitivity, wellbeing, changemaking and sustainability with professionalism, grace and warmth.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly, escort them to their tables and ensure their needs are met throughout their dining experience.
  • Provide detailed information about the menu, including specials and beverage pricing.
  • Accurately take orders and ensure all requests, dietary preferences and food allergies are communicated to the kitchen and the bar team.
  • Efficiently serve food and drinks while adhering to the highest standards of presentation and service.
  • Ensure tables are properly set and cleared in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the food and beverage offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and wine pairings, to confidently make recommendations.
  • Actively promote additional items and special menu offerings to enhance guest experience.
  • Ensure F&B outlets are impeccably clean and always organised, adhering to Health & Safety regulations.
  • Work closely with kitchen team, bartenders and other attendants to provide a seamless service.
  • Support fellow team members during busy periods or special events.
  • Address any guest concerns or complaints with professionalism, resolving them promptly, or escalating them to the management.
  • Assist in managing stock inventory, replenishing items as needed and reporting shortages to supervisors.
  • Assist with the preparation and service for special events, banquets and private dining experiences, ensuring that the event exceeds guest expectations.
  • Ensure accurate billing, cash handling and payment procedures.
  • Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure seamless communication and timely service.
  • Respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently, following hotel protocols.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and guest-oriented mindset.

  • In‑depth knowledge of food and beverage service, wine pairings and menu offerings.
  • Familiarity with the Health & Safety regulations in F&B service (HACCP).
  • Proficiency in POS systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Detail oriented and highly organised.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, a degree in hospitality or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role is desired.

Working Conditions

  • Flexibility with work schedules, including weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Physical demands such as being on the feet for long periods of time and manual handling.
