The Hotel Security Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, colleagues, and property. As a highly visible presence across the hotel, the role is responsible for monitoring, preventing, and responding to safety and security risks with professionalism, discretion, and efficiency. This position requires close coordination with hotel management and external emergency services to ensure that all guests and employees enjoy a secure, welcoming environment in line with Montcalm Collection’s commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure the safety and security of hotel guests, staff, and property.
- Operate surveillance systems, monitor cameras, and investigate suspicious activity.
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols across all areas of the hotel.
- Respond promptly to emergencies including fire alarms, medical incidents, or security breaches.
- Control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorised individuals are permitted.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, actions taken, and daily activity reports.
- Participate in emergency drills and follow established hotel emergency procedures.
- Provide support to guests and staff during incidents with professionalism and care.
- Liaise with management, local law enforcement, and emergency services when required.
- Promote a culture of safety and vigilance within the hotel team.
Skills And Qualifications
- Previous experience in a security role, ideally within hospitality or customer-facing environments.
- Knowledge of security procedures, surveillance systems, and emergency response.
- Valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence (as required by UK law).
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
- Strong observational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Calm, professional manner under pressure with excellent problem-solving ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit: able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and lift to 20kg as required in emergencies.
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Shift-based role, requiring flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Active, guest-facing role requiring professional appearance (uniform provided).
- Involves standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods, with occasional physical demands during incidents.
