Overview

The People & Culture Assistant plays a key role in delivering a seamless, luxury-standard experience for every team member across the Montcalm Collection. As the first point of contact throughout the employee journey, this role is responsible for providing warm, professional, and values-led support from application through to onboarding and beyond.

Working closely with the wider People & Culture team, the Assistant ensures that the Human Resources administration processes run smoothly, candidates feel informed and supported at every stage. This position embodies and promotes the Montcalm values of Belonging, Sensitivity, Wellbeing, Changemaking, and Sustainability through exceptional service, communication, and care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the full employee lifecycle across all Montcalm properties (onboarding to offboarding).
  • Maintain accurate employee records (contracts, leave, personal details).
  • Support recruitment activities (posting job ads, scheduling interviews, reference checks).
  • Handle day-to-day inquiries and provide guidance to staff.
  • Help to organize employee engagement activities (events, surveys, recognition programs).
  • Support diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
  • Assist with internal communications to promote culture and company values.
  • Support career development initiatives and performance review processes.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are up to date and accessible to the team.
  • Assist with compliance reporting as required.
  • Support audits and ensure adherence to employment legislation.
  • Provide administrative support to the People & Culture Team.
  • Contribute to projects aiming at improving employee experience.
  • Assist leaders and managers with HR related tasks as needed.
  • Assist with recruitment campaigns, social media content, and external job fairs.
  • Support People & Culture and Marketing teams with employer branding activity.
  • Represent the company at careers events, supporting an inclusive and engaging atmosphere.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a confident and professional telephone manner.
  • Proven organisational and administrative skills, with high attention to detail.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering a luxury-standard candidate experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and digital systems.
  • Familiarity with right to work checks and pre-employment compliance processes.
  • A collaborative and helpful attitude, able to build strong working relationships across departments.
  • Experience in a HR administrative role, ideally within hospitality, luxury, or high-volume sectors.
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification (or currently working towards).
  • Knowledge of GDPR principles as they apply to candidate data and onboarding processes.
  • Familiarity with safer recruitment practices or safeguarding awareness (if applicable).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role is desired.
  • Knowledge of Fourth, Harri and Mapal highly desirable.

Working Condition

Full time office-based position. Must be flexible to commute to properties around London to support HR initiatives and functions.

Eligibility

Candidates must be authorised to live and work in the UK. Currently, visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
