Join a critical public sector transformation project focused on decommissioning Legacy Mainframe systems.
Urgently seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong ICL VME & Cobol skills to support the migration of essential services (including payroll) off Mainframe before an end-of-year deadline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reverse-engineer and interpret ICL VME Mainframe applications written in Cobol
- Support the migration of codebases into Windows DLL equivalents
- Work with existing scripts to ensure functionality is retained and transitioned effectively
- Provide technical expertise in Legacy systems decommissioning
- Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and validate transitions in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
- Assist in GNU-based IBM tooling if experienced
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong hands-on experience with ICL VME Mainframe systems
- Strong expertise in Cobol, analysing and reworking Legacy business logic
- Understanding of Mainframe-to-modern transitions
Desirable:
- Experience with GNU on IBM environments
- Public sector experience
