Join a critical public sector transformation project focused on decommissioning Legacy Mainframe systems.

Urgently seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong ICL VME & Cobol skills to support the migration of essential services (including payroll) off Mainframe before an end-of-year deadline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reverse-engineer and interpret ICL VME Mainframe applications written in Cobol
  • Support the migration of codebases into Windows DLL equivalents
  • Work with existing scripts to ensure functionality is retained and transitioned effectively
  • Provide technical expertise in Legacy systems decommissioning
  • Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and validate transitions in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
  • Assist in GNU-based IBM tooling if experienced

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong hands-on experience with ICL VME Mainframe systems
  • Strong expertise in Cobol, analysing and reworking Legacy business logic
  • Understanding of Mainframe-to-modern transitions

Desirable:

  • Experience with GNU on IBM environments
  • Public sector experience
