For over 30 years Montane has become famous for its innovative, lightweight breathable clothing and equipment for endurance sports and outdoor activities in extreme environments. Montane specialises in creating technical outdoor clothing, backpacks and accessories, where design and performance are of the highest quality. We have a friendly, dynamic and ambitious team motivated by a love of the outdoors and with a passion for producing exceptional products. Based in the North East of England, we are represented in many territories around the world and have a head office in Northumberland along with a showroom in the Lake District.
Time in front of customers is the foundation of this role. By being present in store, you will influence sell-through, build trust with retail teams and generate the insight needed to improve trading performance. The primary focus is to drive sales of stock already landed in our partners' stores. Through regular engagement, training and commercial conversations, you will help retailers sell better and sell faster. Alongside this, you will manage and develop existing wholesale relationships across the region, ensuring the brand is represented at the highest standard. This is a field-based role with significant regional travel. Most weeks will involve multiple days on the road visiting customers. Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of in-season performance across your territory.
- Work with retailers to review stock, identify risks, agree actions to improve rate of sale and maximise opportunities to drive sell through.
- Increase staff advocacy and confidence through regular, practical product training.
- Ensure merchandising, visibility and product presentation support conversion.
- Use data and store insight to prioritise where effort will have the biggest impact.
- Build strong, productive relationships with accounts identified by the senior sales team.
- Maintain regular contact and structured engagement with partners.
- Support pre-season activity and future ranging conversations where required.
- Deliver seasonal training in store and at events.
- Create simple, effective training tools or content where needed.
- Act as the link between the brand and shop floor teams.
- Provide clear, consistent reporting to the UK Sales Manager and Director.
- Share competitor activity, customer reactions and trading opportunities.
- Bring practical, solution-focused insight into the business.
- Contribute updates and actions in sales meetings.
- Represent the brand as technical, credible and performance led.
