THE TEAM
This position sits within our successful and market‑leading Valuation & Investment Advisory team, structured through ‘Commercial’ Valuation, ‘Specialist’ Valuation and ‘Investment Advisory’ workstreams. The team provides a focused yet diverse range of services to both public and private sector clients, including purchase and disposal reports, asset valuations, option appraisals, secured lending valuations, credit assessments, alternative use evaluations, portfolio strategy advice, overage and expert witness/dispute resolution advice.
With growing demand for its services, we have ambitious plans for expansion. We are now seeking a Surveyor/ Senior Surveyor to join the team. This role involves delivering a wide range of valuation‑focused advice while managing and mentoring a team of surveyors and graduate surveyors. It offers clear pathways for professional growth and progression in an exciting and supportive environment.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Surveyor/Senior Surveyor to join our Valuation & Advisory team, working across a diverse mix of public and private sector portfolio work. The successful candidate will advise a variety of UK and international clients on an extensive range of asset types, including major mixed‑use regeneration projects, industrial and logistics parks, town centre regeneration projects, shopping centres, retail warehouse parks, value‑add office buildings, schools and sports stadia.
Main clients include:
- Lenders: Canada Life, Investec, HSBC, Cain International, Zorin, Ahli United Bank
- Developers & PropCos: Almacantar, Mace, CIPF, Chancerygate, Marchmont
- Local Authorities: Runnymede Borough Council, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, London Borough of Sutton
MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES
Valuation Expertise
- Undertake valuations for investment, development, and financial reporting purposes.
- Prepare detailed valuation reports in accordance with the RICS Valuation Global Standards (Red Book).
- Use sound market analysis and recognised valuation methodologies across commercial, operational and mixed‑use assets.
- Provide high‑quality Red Book valuation reports and written advice for clients.
- Research, analyse and present complex planning, appraisal and market data.
- Liaise with clients and auditors to discuss valuation inputs and outputs.
- Business development and client meetings.
Team Collaboration & Support
- Contribute to team development through knowledge‑sharing and supporting junior colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with other Montagu Evans teams to provide holistic advice.
Market Engagement
- Stay up‑to‑date with market trends, regulatory updates, and wider economic influences.
- Represent the firm at industry events, client meetings, and networking opportunities.
- Raise the internal and external profile of the VA team through industry events and activities.

- MRICS qualified and competent in standard RICS Red Book valuations.
- High attention to detail, well organised and a proactive mindset.
- Strong verbal, numerical and report‑writing skills.

- Ability to utilise varying methods of valuation.
