The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering the firm’s North Star strategy by supporting a conviction‑led approach to clients, strengthening cross‑firm collaboration, and helping embed our commitment to unlocking value from complexity. You will work closely with our partners across departments and markets to ensure our BD activity is insightful, data‑led, client‑focused and aligned with our priority growth ambitions.
The role provides clear visibility of opportunity pipelines, performance, risks and commercial impact, enabling informed decision making and supporting a consistent, high-quality approach to client development across the firm.
Conviction‑Led Business Development- Identify, shape and deliver BD activity anchored in the firm’s four conviction areas and aligned to market priorities.
- Work with partners to build awareness of conviction‑led opportunities, strengthening client relationships and increasing cross‑selling.
- Embed a consistent, client‑led approach aligned with the North Star.
- Analyse and interpret data-driven insights to identify growth opportunities, risks and strategic recommendations.
- Produce clear, concise insights and updates to inform support reporting to ExCo, partners and internal stakeholders with data‑driven opportunities and clear recommendations.
- Capture client feedback to inform strategy, prioritisation and improved client experience.
- Act as the “voice of the client,” ensuring BD plans reflect clients’ real needs, commercial pressures and long‑term goals.
- Gather, analyse and share client intel to identify opportunities for unlocking value from complexity across planning, advisory and transactional teams.
- Build strong relationships with partners, fee earners and business services teams to promote knowledge sharing, joined-up activity and cross-team support.
- Collaborate with Finance, Bids, Marketing, Design and Data teams to develop integrated BD initiatives, campaigns and client‑ready solutions.
- Maintain accurate pipelines, dashboards and CRM data (Inform:ME) to track BD activity, client contacts and market engagement.
- Provide regular reporting and performance insights across BD activity, highlighting progress, risks, KPIs and ROI.
- Strengthen BD processes, governance and information flow to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, including automation and smarter use of systems and data tools.
- Use data to guide decision‑making, increase commercial confidence and support profitable growth.
- Monitor market trends, sector shifts and competitor activity to inform conviction‑aligned go‑to‑market campaigns.
- Represent the firm at industry events to elevate our profile and strengthen relationships.
- Produce compelling, insight-driven materials (pitches, presentations, written content) that bring our North Star narrative to life.
- Ensure all BD communications reflect our tone of voice, conviction‑led offer and integrated approach to unlocking value for clients.
- Professional services BD or marketing experience; built‑environment knowledge desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
