ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Development Manager is responsible for delivering client accounts, competitor trends, client feedback and measured actions and relationship tracking whilst working collaboratively across the firm to help develop and implement client focused business development initiatives. The key responsibilities include;
- Identify, develop and execute BD activities aligned with firm-wide growth priorities. Support HoDs and partners on delivering department BD activities
- Support the Head of CST in planning and implementing the firm’s client strategy, reporting to ExCo, HODs and other internal stakeholders as needed
- Build & maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a key point of contact. Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders including partners, referrers and industry contacts
- Capture client intel & feedback through direct connections and relationships. Provide insight into client activity and key opportunities to help win and grow profitable client accounts. Understand and communicate client needs and objectives
- Collaborate with internal teams (finance, CMT, marketing, bids, departments) to provide objective thinking and suggestions to develop client opportunities and relationships, capture opportunities and deliver BD actions
- Work closely with marketing, design and brand colleagues to develop collateral to support BD activity
- Monitor market tends, competitor activity and industry news to inform client strategy. Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build relationships and promote the business
- Maintain and capture pipeline of opportunities, contacts and intel through internal systems (CRM, trackers, dashboards etc) reporting on activity, outcomes and key metrics, tracking progress and adjusting priorities accordingly
- Produce and deliver complex information clearly, succinctly and effectively to both clients and internal teams, through a range of formats (written, verbal, presentations etc)
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION
- Professional services background preferred, with experience in BD and marketing. An understanding and passion for the built environment would be desirable.
- Understands the dynamics of a partnership. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with proven ability to build collaborative relationships with others in a dynamic environment, including the ability to ‘bring others on the journey’
- Is the ‘voice of the client’ and puts the client at the forefront
- Can juggle long-term thinking with short-term ROI
- Demonstrates agility in delivering complex client focused plans across a matrix sector and department structure. Is commercially astute and delivers BD activities with impact and purpose
- Is curious and not afraid to ask questions and challenge the status quo
- Flexible, adaptable and the ability to work calmly under pressure
- Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills
- Excellent IT skills – PowerPoint, Excel and Word as standard
