THE DEPARTMENT
The Advisory Department, led by Josh Myerson, comprises 5 teams: Asset & Valuation Advisory, Development Advisory, Rating Advisory, Residential Valuation Advisory, and Strategic Advisory.
Advisory brings together over 130 experts across all 3 national offices, offering a diverse range of expertise. Projects include:
- Problem solving with valuation at its core
- Place-making and town centre evolution, advising on asset management and repurposing
- Strategic development advice for public and private sectors
- Minimising re-development costs through rating strategy
- Valuing land for viability, acquisition, disposal, or strategic advice
- Supporting owners and occupiers of major portfolios with valuation and strategic solutions
- Innovating through valuations of public and private property portfolios
The goal of Advisory is to unlock value, interpret policy, counsel clients, support critical thinking, and simplify complex problems into effective solutions.
THE TEAM
The Residential Valuation Advisory (RVA) team, with 16 members and plans for growth, specializes in residential-led valuation, including Valuation, Viability, and New Settlements workstreams. It aligns closely with the firm’s planning and development focus, offering significant growth opportunities in the dynamic UK residential sector.
RVA advises private and public sector landowners, registered providers, housebuilders, and funders on development and investment matters, including:
- VIABILITY : Providing financial viability advice from scheme inception through to planning permission and beyond, including negotiations and drafting S106 agreements.
- VALUATION : Advising on residential assets for various clients, covering development and investment, land with/without planning permission, PRS, BtR, PBSA, co-living, and affordable homes.
- NEW SETTLEMENTS & DEVELOPMENT VALUATION : Supporting large housing projects, land disputes, land promotion, and landowner agreements, working with public and private sector clients and providing expert witness services.
WHERE YOU FIT IN
Surveyors in the team will work across projects, clients, and technical requirements, with opportunities to specialise as they progress.
Responsibilities
- Data preparation and analysis for consultancy, valuation, and agency advice
- Preparing appraisals and valuations
- Producing high-quality Red Book valuation reports and advice
- Engaging with clients to discuss advice
- Leading and supporting client meetings and presentations
- Supporting and training junior team members
- Collaborating across teams and participating in sector groups
- Enhancing internal and external profile
- Contributing to business development activities
- Performing additional duties as required
Qualifications
- RICS qualified and registered valuer
- Good knowledge of Argus Developer, with a willingness to become an expert
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and self-motivated
- Team-oriented and personable
- Solution-focused with attention to detail
- Excellent report-writing skills
- Organised and committed
