Montage Theatre Arts, a vibrant performing arts charity with a proud 28-year history, is recruiting a Creative Programme Manager to enhance the artistic output, children’s and young people’s experiences, and social purpose of the charity. We exist to open doors to the performing arts in Lewisham and empower young people to build their self-belief, grow their creative skills, and become thriving members of their community. We foster creativity, confidence, and wellbeing through accessible, inclusive drama, dance and singing programmes.

This exciting and pivotal role will oversee the management of Montage’s creative programme. The role is varied, combining programme development, strategic planning, people management, event/production management, and creative ambition. This is a hands-on, people-focused position, playing a key part in overseeing our creative community and maintaining high safeguarding and health & safety standards. Working hours are split between our Lewisham office, activity venues, and home. Regular evening and Saturday working is required during term time.

KEY INFORMATION:

  • Hours: 35 per week (Full Time, PAYE)

  • Salary: from £37,000 p/a
  • Holiday Entitlement: 30 days (including statutory)

KEY DUTIES:

  • Create and develop educational development and artistic strategy including courses, locations, events, and performances.
  • Regularly evaluate and report on Montage’s programme including quality of training, student’s enjoyment, and artistic/educational merit. Suggesting and implementing new courses and improvements where necessary.
  • Create course content for holiday courses and, when necessary, for term time courses – creating scripts and themes for larger scale productions.
  • Organise performance opportunities and events throughout the year (including logistics and licensing).
  • Ensure Health and Safety is observed in relation to both staff and students, creating dynamic risk assessments and firm procedures for staff to follow.
  • Lead on freelance facilitator recruitment and contracting, following Montage’s Safer Recruitment policy, and oversee timetabling ensuring projects can run and that necessary staff are in place.
  • Line manage Montage’s CPC and Site Assistants, supporting them in training and development.
  • Support freelance creative facilitators in their roles through onboarding and ongoing supervision; balancing student enjoyment against classroom management, creative content, progression and artistic output.
  • Act as an advocate for our safeguarding policies acting as secondary designated safeguarding lead when needed.
  • Consistently act as a positive representation of the organisation when communicating across, or negotiating with, a wide variety of stakeholders, including partner organisations.
