We currently have an exciting opportunity for an HR Assistant Manager (Maternity Cover) to join our supportive MAP team.
This contract is up to 12 months, although there may be an opportunity to extend this depending on the successful applicant’s start date.
The anticipated start date for this position is approximately September 2026.
We’re looking for a positive, proactive, and approachable individual who enjoys building strong relationships and supporting managers and employees across a wide range of employee relations matters.
While supporting two other MAP team members, you’ll play an important role in helping us create a fair, supportive, and engaging workplace culture.
Your Role
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers on employee relations matters across the business.
- Manage ER cases from start to finish, including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, and appeals.
- Ensure all ER matters are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation and company policies.
- Support managers with short-term absence management, probation reviews, and flexible working requests.
- Coach and upskill managers on MAP policies, procedures, and best practice approaches.
- Support employees and managers with progression planning through Monster Progression Plans (MPPs).
- Collate, analyse, and report on people data, including absence trends and ER metrics.
- Occasionally support with delivering training sessions and workshops on people-related topics and workplace policies.
- Work collaboratively with the wider MAP team to provide a positive employee experience.
- Regular travel to our Scunthorpe sites and occasional travel to our Venlo, Netherlands warehouse will be required to support managers and teams across our wider business operations.
Skills We Love
- Demonstrable experience providing HR and ER advice within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations processes, policies, and UK employment law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and support stakeholders at all levels.
- A positive, proactive, and approachable attitude with a genuine passion for supporting people.
- Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
- Confident using HR systems and IT packages, including HR reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- A solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- CIPD Level 5 would be great, but is not essential.
- Knowledge of Dutch employment law would also be advantageous, but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) with flexible start and finish times — begin your day between 8:00am and 9:30am, and finish between 4:00pm and 5:30pm, depending on your preference.
Lunch breaks can be taken as either 30 minutes or 1 hour.
You’ll be based full-time at our modern office near York (YO60 6PG). Due to the location, access to your own transport is essential.
