As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will assist in the management of stock levels to maximise profit through sales. You will manage allocations, ensuring allocation plans are met, and support the sales process to maximise sales while protecting margin and profit.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all departmental, brand analysis and reports are accurately produced, maintained and circulated on a weekly basis: Monday trade, in season trade, pre-season trade and end of season analysis.
  • Overseeing markdowns and promotions.
  • Maintaining Brand KPI sheets.
  • Monitoring and analysing deliveries, working closely with suppliers to ensure business needs are met.
  • Negotiating with suppliers on cost price and delivery dates.
  • Ensuring cost price reduction in relation to deliveries.
  • Supporting multi-channel analyses.
  • Updating the WSSI and assisting in departmental forecasting.
  • Supporting the merchandiser with solid analysis and preparation for all key meetings including sign offs and strategies.
  • Working closely with Merchandisers, Channel Merchandising, Buying, VM and the Web trade Team to deliver timely and accurate stock packages.
  • Creating seasonal sales and buying plans that will maximise commercial opportunities.
  • Monitoring stock on continuity lines to maximise sales opportunity.
  • Planning induction for new employees within the merchandising team.
  • Ensuring company and department information is communicated effectively to the team through weekly meetings.
  • Coaching and developing team members at a junior level.

To succeed as an Assistant Merchandiser, you will need:

  • An interest in working within fashion retail.
  • A proven track record in multi-product.
  • Strong analytical and advanced Excel skills.
  • The ability to identify key trends and emerging opportunities in line with customer profile.
  • Experience of managing a team and supporting sign offs.
  • Confident and articulate communication skills, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • The ability to deliver to tight timescales and work under pressure.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
