We're looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our Monsoon Childrenswear Buying team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of a balanced and commercial product range for Monsoon. You'll contribute across the full buying cycle, from trend research and range development through to order management and performance analysis, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers.
What will you do as Assistant Buyer?
- Work closely with your Buyer to help deliver a balanced, profitable and commercial product range
- Support the review of previous season performance, identifying key learnings to inform future ranges
- Analyse sales data and present commercially sound recommendations to the Buyer
- Maintain a strong understanding of current and emerging fashion trends through market research and comparative shopping
- Contribute to the development and building of product ranges that align with the brand's visual identity and commercial objectives
- Support the Buyer with range-building activities, including:
- Attending supplier meetings
- Reviewing and approving samples
- Supporting range sign-off processes in line with the critical path
- Support the Buyer with fit sessions, approvals and critical path management, proactively offering solutions where issues arise
- Support price negotiations with suppliers where appropriate
- Manage ad-hoc queries from internal and external stakeholders to ensure timelines are met
- Support brand initiatives across all communication channels, including Press Day and workshops
- Ensure samples and product information are delivered to press, international and digital teams in line with deadlines
Key Skills:
- A keen interest in fashion and trends
- Strong commercial awareness with a keen product eye
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
- An active team player who consistently contributes and supports others
- Excellent PC skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- The confidence and capability to deputise for the Buyer when required
- Flexibility and the ability to work at pace in a fast-moving environment
