An established infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking a Senior Planner to support a range of major projects across the North West. The role focuses on developing, monitoring, and maintaining robust project programmes, ensuring delivery timescales remain achievable and accurately tracked throughout the project lifecycle. Reporting to the Planning Lead, you will work closely with operational and commercial teams to develop tender and contract programmes, monitor progress, and identify risks and opportunities. The role also involves supporting project teams with planning best practice, programme reporting, and performance improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will take ownership of multiple project schedules, collaborate with stakeholders across delivery teams, and provide guidance to junior planners where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain programmes from tender and project documentation
- Produce and update contract programmes in line with project requirements
- Support collaborative planning sessions and programme reviews
- Assist with the development of 4D construction planning approaches
- Monitor progress against baseline programmes
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure consistency in assumptions and methodologies
- Identify programme risks, constraints, and opportunities
- Gather and communicate progress updates and reasons for delays or changes
- Review scope changes and adjust programmes accordingly
- Attend project and progress meetings to present planning updates
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and collect information
- Prepare short-term lookahead programmes and progress reports
- Ensure accurate as-built records are maintained at project completion
- Support the use and administration of planning software platforms
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced planners and project staff
About The Candidate
Essential
- Experience delivering planning functions on infrastructure, civil engineering, or M&E projects
- Familiarity with industry-standard health and safety practices
- Experience working with NEC forms of contract
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to identify and manage project risks and opportunities
- Comfortable working within fast-paced project environments
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines effectively
- Proactive and solution-focused approach
