We are seeking an experienced Project Planner and a Senior Project Planner to join our Major Infrastructure & Rail team, delivering critical capital projects across the London Underground (TfL) network.
You will lead the end-to-end planning, baseline management, and execution of complex rail engineering packages—ranging from major station upgrades, signalling renewals, and track infrastructure, to MEP, deep tube refurbishments, and step-free access schemes. Working within an NEC contract environment, you will be pivotal in translating complex engineering constraints into robust, deliverable Primavera P6 integrated schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and baseline detailed, logic-linked Primavera P6 schedules across all project phases (Design, Procurement, ECI, Construction, Commissioning).
- Perform critical path analysis, track progress against baselines, and highlight potential slippages early to the Project Delivery team.
- Liaise with site engineers, sub-contractors, and commercial QS teams to integrate progress updates, change events, and cost-loaded milestones into the master schedule.
- Produce weekly/monthly progress reports, CL32 submission programmes, and visual S-curve reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to TfL’s Pathways delivery process, station access protocols, and possession management guidelines.
- Support the administration of NEC project controls, including Early Warnings, RFIs, and Compensation Events (CEs) impact assessments.
Senior Project Planner
- Lead the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for high-value/multi-disciplinary TfL capital packages.
- Conduct Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and work with risk managers to establish robust schedule contingency and mitigation plans.
- Lead ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) planning stages, working closely with client side PMs, TfL stakeholders, and engineering leads.
- Manage, mentor, and review the output of junior and mid-level planners on the framework.
- Manage high-level stakeholder interface across TfL, Network Rail, local London authorities, and third-party contractors.
- Drive schedule recovery strategies, constructability reviews, and scenario modeling to resolve complex site-access and engineering constraints.
Key Requirements & Experience
- Core Tooling: Expert hands-on proficiency in Primavera P6 (essential). Experience with MS Project or Asta Powerproject is a plus.
- Rail/TfL Experience: Proven track record delivering major rail or infrastructure projects, ideally with direct exposure to London Underground / TfL standards and assets.
- Contractual Knowledge: In-depth working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 forms of contract (Option A, C, or E) and NEC programme acceptance requirements.
- Site Operations: Solid understanding of brownfield rail environments, track possessions, engineering trains, station refurbishments, or MEP systems.
- Education & Certifications: Degree in Civil/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent rail industry experience. APM, PRINCE2, or CIOB membership is desirable.
Work Pattern & Benefits
- Workplace Model: Hybrid working model (Minimum 3 days based in Central London office/site, 2 days remote).
- Permanent Package: Competitive base salary (£50k–£85k), company pension, health insurance, rail travel discounts/allowances, and structured pathway for chartered progression.
- Contract Rate: £400 – £500 per day (Inside IR35), with long-term framework security.
