Senior Project Planner – Infrastructure (London)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Project Planner to join a leading infrastructure team based in London. In this role, you will support project leaders in delivering high-quality planning services, contributing to successful project outcomes while promoting knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement.

You will play a key role within the project management team, helping to deliver large, complex infrastructure programmes efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and inspire a team of planners
  • Analyse construction projects to determine the safest and most efficient delivery approach
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including supply chains and subcontractors
  • Develop and manage project programmes to ensure delivery on time and within budget
  • Monitor project performance through reporting, progress tracking, and site engagement
  • Support decision-making by assessing impacts of changes and recommending solutions
  • Collaborate across teams to enhance planning’s impact on safety, quality, and delivery
  • Mentor junior planners and contribute to a culture of continuous learning

About You

  • Significant experience in project planning, ideally within construction or infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of planning techniques, methodologies, and tools
  • Experience interpreting contracts, tender documents, and specifications
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and MS Excel
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and project lifecycle processes
  • Experience working on projects typically valued at £20m+
  • Ability to build trust, influence teams, and communicate effectively
  • Calm, adaptable, and solutions-focused in a fast-changing environment

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in construction, engineering, or a business-related field
  • Experience in infrastructure projects within live operational environments (desirable)
  • Knowledge of quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and reporting
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning processes
