Managing QS - Water Infrastructure

Location: West London (Hybrid)

Salary: Β£80-90K plus car allowance + bonus

Reporting To: Head of Commercial / Commercial Manager

Core Objective: Direct the commercial operations group, overseeing project delivery teams and key business functions to maintain forecast accuracy and safeguard margins.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee commercial strategy to ensure project execution efficiency, tight financial forecasting, and margin preservation.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and supply chain partners to facilitate smoother project delivery and contract negotiations.
  • Partner with procurement to secure maximum value on all supply and subcontractor agreements.
  • Handle client negotiations while strictly observing corporate governance protocols.
  • Monitor commercial staffing levels and participate in hiring to keep delivery efficient.
  • Help deliver regional training on commercial procedures and contract terms.
  • Assist in evaluating and refining commercial frameworks, tools, and processes.
  • Execute sign-offs and governance tasks per the internal authority matrix.
  • Act as stand-in for the Commercial Manager when required.
  • Mentor, manage, and upskill junior commercial personnel.
  • Partner closely with client teams to satisfy overarching business goals.
  • Maintain a solution-minded, transparent approach and uphold high professional standards externally and internally.
  • Protect business confidentiality across all interactions.

Candidate Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional background.
  • Background in civil engineering, utilities, or MEICA projects.
  • Direct working knowledge of NEC3 or IChemE contract forms.
  • Proven track record leading commercial teams within a main contractor setup.
  • Senior-level management experience demonstrating strong leadership skills.
  • Expertise in risk evaluation and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with commercial IT platforms and reporting software.
  • Capability to balance multiple concurrent projects in high-tempo environments.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Working toward or possessing MRICS / equivalent professional chartership.
  • Track record of mentoring individual staff or small groups.
  • Experience handling multi-stakeholder work portfolios.
