Monroe are currently supporting a leading main contractor within the Construction industry that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Bid Manager to lead major two stage tenders through to contract award across the Essex & Hertfordshire regions. This opportunity would suit someone with a proven track record delivering successful bids within sectors such as Education, Defence, Healthcare, or Life Sciences, typically on projects ranging from £20m–£100m in value.
One of the key attractions of this position is the company’s approach to bidding, with the successful individual focusing on one major bid at a time. This allows for a far more strategic, detailed, and hands-on approach throughout the entire pre-construction and tender process. The role is based from offices on the Hertfordshire & Essex borders, with flexible hybrid working available, typically offering 2-3 days remote working per week.
The Role
As Senior Bid Manager, you will take ownership of high value, two stage tenders from initial SQ/PQQ through to final submission and contract award. Working closely with Preconstruction, Operational, and Commercial teams, you will play a key role in securing complex projects across multiple sectors. You will be responsible for managing the full bid lifecycle, coordinating internal stakeholders and external consultants, while ensuring submissions are commercially robust, technically accurate, and aligned with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage major two stage tenders through to contract award
- Develop winning bid strategies and coordinate bid programmes
- Work closely with Estimating, Design, Planning, Commercial, and Operational teams
- Manage and produce high quality tender submissions and presentations
- Coordinate client engagement throughout the bid process
- Review tender documentation, identify risks, and drive mitigation strategies
- Ensure all submissions are delivered to a consistently high standard and within deadlines
- Support and mentor junior bid team members where required
Requirements
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Bid Manager or Bid Manager within a Tier 1 or leading main contractor environment
- Strong track record delivering successful tenders within Education, Healthcare, Defence, Life Sciences, or similar sectors
- Experience managing bids on projects typically valued between £20m–£100m
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of pre-construction processes
- Ability to manage complex tenders in a strategic and collaborative manner
- Keen to speak with Bid Managers as well as Seniors
