Contract: £500 per day, Inside IR35

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to join a major infrastructure-focused organisation in Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced risk professional to take ownership of risk management across complex defence programmes, working closely with project, commercial, engineering and programme teams

While experience within the defence sector would be advantageous, strong infrastructure risk management experience is the priority. Candidates from sectors such as rail, water, utilities, transport and other major infrastructure environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage risk management activities across major infrastructure projects and programmes.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project and programme risk registers.
• Identify, assess and quantify project risks, opportunities and uncertainties.
• Facilitate risk workshops with project stakeholders and senior management.
• Develop and implement appropriate risk mitigation and response strategies.
• Monitor risk exposure and provide regular reporting to project and programme leadership.
• Support the integration of risk management into project planning, cost and commercial processes.
• Provide analysis and insight to support informed project decision-making.
• Challenge project teams to ensure risks are properly identified, assessed, owned and managed.
• Track mitigation actions and ensure appropriate ownership and accountability.
• Contribute to quantitative and qualitative risk assessments where required.
• Produce clear risk reports, dashboards and management information for senior stakeholders.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of risk management processes and standards.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Risk Manager / Senior Risk Manager with a strong background in major infrastructure projects or programmes.

Essential

• Proven experience in risk management within a complex infrastructure environment.
• Experience working on major projects, programmes or capital investment programmes.
• Strong understanding of risk identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting.
• Experience facilitating risk workshops and engaging with senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, commercial, project management and programme functions.
• UK-born and eligible to hold or obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).

Desirable

• Existing SC clearance.
• Experience within defence or security-sensitive environments.
• Rail, water, utilities, transport or other major infrastructure experience.
• Experience with quantitative risk analysis and/or Monte Carlo techniques.
• Experience working within NEC or other major infrastructure contract environments.
• Professional risk management qualification or relevant professional membership.
