We are recruiting for a motivated and enthusiastic Purchasing/Stock Controller to join and lead our busy Purchasing Department on a fixed-term maternity cover contract of 1 year and 2 months, starting in July 2026. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the manufacturing sector, be a confident self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage inventories.

The Job Role:

  • Negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers and contractors
  • Following and enforcing the company’s procurement policies and procedures
  • Sourcing refractory raw materials from suppliers globally
  • Preparing purchase plans for refractory raw materials, PPE, and other miscellaneous items
  • Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation
  • Coordinating with the production and technical departments on stock requirements and making purchases accordingly
  • Ensuring all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications, working closely with the quality control team
  • Providing required information for import customs clearance
  • Raising purchase orders on the system and completing Goods Received Notes (GRN)
  • Conducting monthly stock counts and reconciling with system records

About You:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a purchasing role within the manufacturing sector (experience with minerals/refractories is advantageous)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to communicate at all levels
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with MRP/ERP systems
  • Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
  • Ability to work independently and as a self-starter

Package:

  • Salary: (depending on experience)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Holidays: 25 days plus statutory holidays
  • Pension: 5% company contribution
  • Death in Service: 4 x salary
