We are recruiting for a motivated and enthusiastic Purchasing/Stock Controller to join and lead our busy Purchasing Department on a fixed-term maternity cover contract of 1 year and 2 months, starting in July 2026. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the manufacturing sector, be a confident self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage inventories.
The Job Role:
- Negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers and contractors
- Following and enforcing the company’s procurement policies and procedures
- Sourcing refractory raw materials from suppliers globally
- Preparing purchase plans for refractory raw materials, PPE, and other miscellaneous items
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records
- Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation
- Coordinating with the production and technical departments on stock requirements and making purchases accordingly
- Ensuring all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications, working closely with the quality control team
- Providing required information for import customs clearance
- Raising purchase orders on the system and completing Goods Received Notes (GRN)
- Conducting monthly stock counts and reconciling with system records
About You:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a purchasing role within the manufacturing sector (experience with minerals/refractories is advantageous)
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to communicate at all levels
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with MRP/ERP systems
- Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
- Ability to work independently and as a self-starter
Package:
- Salary: (depending on experience)
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Holidays: 25 days plus statutory holidays
- Pension: 5% company contribution
- Death in Service: 4 x salary
