Launched in London in 2007, the business has blossomed to include our famed magazine, daily newsletters, a round-the-clock radio station and international events, as well as thriving retail stores, e-commerce and cafes. With HQs, bureaux and shops in Paris, Zürich, London, Tokyo, Toronto, Merano and Hong Kong, we are a truly global team and proud that Monocle is a vital source of inspiration, analysis and ideas for our discerning global audience.
About the role: Monocle's radio coverage includes three daily live-broadcast current-affairs shows, as well as a suite of other programmes covering urbanism, entrepreneurship, design, fashion and more. We are a team of studio managers, producers and presenters passionate about producing high-quality journalism. The internship is varied and will see you support the team with booking guests, researching and writing notes for our live output on news shows, including ‘The Globalist’, ‘The Briefing’, and ‘The Monocle Daily’. You will also help with administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day running of the office.
Experience in radio is not essential, but will be a distinct advantage. English fluency is essential and other language skills are desirable.
Over the course of the three-month internship, you will have the opportunity to:
- Work closely with Monocle Radio's producers, correspondents and editors daily, across all live productions and pre-recorded shows.
- Provide research across all of our programming.
- Write copy for scripts, as well as various print issues and online newsletters.
- Pitch story ideas to our team.
- Attend radio meetings and witness the creation of radio programmes from story generation to airing.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A passion for media and a global perspective on the world.
- The ability to support multiple assignments simultaneously.
- A keen eye for detail and an organised way of working.
- Speak and write English proficiently; additional languages are a plus.
- A bachelor's degree in media, journalism or related work experience.
- A confident, engaged and professional working manner.
This is a paid internship that is 40 hours per week for a period of three months. We are looking to hire for an internship starting in July 2026. Please note that all applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
