As a Consultant at Monocle's London office, you will play a key role in delivering high-impact projects for some of the most prestigious banks and insurers in the UK. You will work alongside exceptional peers to analyse complex business problems, design effective solutions, and drive data-led transformation. This role blends business analysis, data analytics, and stakeholder engagement, offering outstanding exposure to both strategic and technical aspects of financial services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Problem-solving & analysis: Analyse complex industry challenges and develop practical, data-driven solutions. Conduct business analysis, gather requirements, and document detailed specifications. Perform quantitative analysis, data mining, and validation across large datasets.
  • Technical & data implementation: Design and implement management dashboards and reports. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable insights. Work with tools such as SQL, SAS, Python, and Business Intelligence platforms.
  • Client engagement & delivery: Engage directly with senior stakeholders and clients to understand needs and influence decisions. Present findings and recommendations through clear, well-structured reports and presentations. Collaborate within cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Continuous learning & development: Stay current with developments in banking, insurance, data governance, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., BCBS 239). Take ownership of personal and professional growth through Monocle's structured development programmes.
Required Skills & Experience
  • A degree in a relevant field (Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar) and 2+ years' relevant experience in the financial services industry.
  • Subject matter knowledge in banking and/or insurance, including regulatory risks such as credit, liquidity, and market risk.
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Practical understanding of data management principles and frameworks such as BCBS 239.
  • Strong technical proficiency with SQL, SAS, Python, and BI/reporting tools.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a consulting role serving banks or insurers.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA or FRM.
  • Postgraduate qualification (preferred).
  • Right to work in the UK.
