We are seeking an experienced and proactive Deputy Head of Building Services (Reactive Repairs & Voids) to lead the performance, delivery and cost management of our Reactive Repairs and Voids service. This is a key leadership role, supporting the Head of Building Services and working closely with the Deputy Head of Operations to drive service improvement, ensure compliance and deliver high-quality, tenant-focused outcomes. The postholder will deputise for the Head of Building Services when required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Reactive Repairs and Voids service, ensuring high standards of performance, productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Support the development and delivery of service standards, strategies and performance targets.
- Provide clear operational and financial reporting, including performance and cost management information for senior management.
- Ensure services are tenant-focused, compliant and delivered in line with all statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Manage commercial and financial controls, including budgets, cost monitoring, variations, procurement compliance and expenditure approvals.
- Oversee contractor and subcontractor performance, ensuring all works meet required standards and specifications.
- Build strong relationships with tenants, internal teams and external partners, ensuring clear communication and accurate records.
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience, ideally within construction, property maintenance or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of housing repairs, health and safety, building regulations and construction legislation.
- Proven experience of managing budgets, performance and contractors.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- A customer-focused approach with strong leadership and people management skills.
